February is here, and with it comes longer days, fresh writing updates, and, of course, free books! But before we dive into all that, let’s take a moment to shine a candle-lit spotlight on an almost forgotten Welsh festival: Gŵyl Fair y Canhwyllau—or Candlemas.
🔥 Gŵyl Fair y Canhwyllau – A Festival of Light Celebrated on February 2nd, Gŵyl Fair y Canhwyllau (Mary’s Festival of the Candles) was once a significant date in Wales, marking the halfway point between winter and spring. Traditionally, it was a time for candlelit processions, forecasting the weather, and honouring the Virgin Mary. Some even say it was an early inspiration for Groundhog Day! While it’s faded from modern celebrations, I love rediscovering these lost traditions—perhaps they’ll inspire a future story.
✍️ Writing Update This month, I’ve been continuing with Macsen and Delyth's story. It's coming along nicely, and I'm excited to share more with you in the coming weeks. Expect some sneak peeks soon!
