December Books, Blessings & Midwinter Magic

I can hardly believe we’ve reached December already. This year, Yule will be a much quieter celebration for us as we navigate illness, loss, and the general heaviness this year has brought. With a dear friend’s passing and Mr Shep still recovering, it’s been a challenging end to 2025 — and I find myself more than ready to welcome a fresh start in 2026.
Still, even in difficult seasons, there is room for light. This month’s newsletter is filled with small sparks of it: free fantasy, sci-fi, and paranormal books to escape into; Welsh midwinter traditions like the Mari Lwyd and Gŵyl Canol Gaeaf; an update on Gerallt’s ARC list; and a reminder that it’s okay to move slowly, to rest, and to hold space for yourself.
If this season feels overwhelming, lonely, or simply “too much,” please know you’re not alone.
May December bring you gentleness, warmth, and moments of quiet magic.
