Today, Whispers and Wings finally steps into the world.
This book began, as many myths do, with a question about what redemption looks like when strength fails. From that question grew Gerallt, a man who has lived for twenty-four years with Arianrhod’s blessing and curse, a swan’s wing where his arm once was and a constant reminder of a past shaped by regret, broken vows, and a longing for atonement.
Gerallt is not a hero forged by victory. He is quiet, worn, and deeply human, someone who has learned endurance but not yet forgiveness, especially for himself. When an act of violence leaves him truly helpless, his journey turns away from steel and toward something far more difficult - learning to be seen. When I began writing his story, I didn’t want a tale where healing came through conquest or triumph alone. I wanted to explore a quieter kind of courage, the bravery it takes to be gentle, to listen, and to accept help.
That is where Aderyn enters the story.
Aderyn is a humble girl who listens to the secret language of geese, attuned to the rhythms of the natural and the divine in ways she barely questions. Her strength lies in patience, in kindness, and in her ability to sit with pain without trying to conquer it. Through her, Gerallt begins to understand that healing is not the same as penance—and that love does not demand perfection to take root.
At its heart, Whispers and Wings is a story about the courage it takes to be gentle. It’s about learning that worth is not measured by what we can endure, but by what we allow ourselves to feel. Yet shadows still linger. A betrayal long ago by Mared—fuelled by ambition and dark bargains with the Otherworld—continues to cast its long reach. Within the starlit halls of Prince Eryndor’s Caerwynd, where song and starlight entwine, old choices must finally be faced.
Blending Welsh mythology with the timeless bones of The Goose Girl, Whispers and Wings is also the culmination of the Brodyr Alarch series. With Sealed with a Curse as its unifying thread, the series has always been about curses that last lifetimes—and the love strong enough to unravel them.
Releasing a final book is always bittersweet. There is joy in letting the story fly free, and a quiet ache in saying goodbye to characters who have lived in my bones for years. I hope this ending feels earned—one that honours sorrow, celebrates healing, and leaves space for hope.
