Today marks the opening of the HIRAETH Book Birthday Sale, running from the 7th to the 9th of March, with the book's 5th birthday falling on the 8th. I have been looking forward to this for weeks, and I am so glad the day has finally arrived.
If you have never heard of HIRAETH before, let me introduce you. The title comes from a Welsh word that carries no perfect English translation. It speaks of homesickness for somewhere you may never have been, a longing that sits quietly in your chest and refuses to leave. It is a feeling many of us have experienced without having a word for it, and it became the emotional foundation for this entire story.

Ellis Clarke has felt that longing her whole life. She moves through the world with the persistent, quiet sense that she does not quite belong wherever she happens to be. When she takes a holiday in Beddgelert, a village nestled in the mountains of Snowdonia, something extraordinary happens. She feels at home. Genuinely, inexplicably, overwhelmingly at home. And she meets Luke.
Luke Maddox is a Guardian of Wales, a red Dragon who flies with his Weyr to protect the land he loves. When Merlin — yes, that Merlin — welcomes Ellis as though she has finally returned from a long journey, Luke understands in an instant that she is the other half of him. The one he has been waiting for. But Ellis carries none of that knowledge within her, and unless she finds a way to acknowledge who she truly is, Luke will fade away before she ever gets the chance to choose him.
HIRAETH is a standalone contemporary magical realism romance, and I wrote it because I believe in stories where belonging is earned through courage rather than given by circumstance. Ellis's journey is one of discovery, identity, and the bravery it takes to accept a life that looks nothing like the one you expected. And Luke — well. Luke is patient, devoted, and absolutely worth fighting for. 🐉💙
The sale runs from today until the 9th of March at most major retailers, excluding Amazon. I would love for you to give HIRAETH a home on your shelves.
